Movies evening! [0] - 05.07.2025

Workshops day in Landau continued with film evening. Best short films from all over Europe were shown in Kulturpalast in Landau. Most of them were about immigration problems, such as, for example, illegal Chinese immigrants in Poland, “Hanoi Warsaw” by Katarzyna Klimiewicz. Integration as one more issue was also pretty much covered, for instance by the film “Impasse”, Bram Shouw.

Plus, the director of “Fanatic”, Paul Robinson was presented a special price in Kulturpalast.

Another issue which I must mention is 2 films concerning Russia. One of them, “Bibendum” by Augustas Liiv, is about an English truck driver and his Michelin Man have a tough time at the Russian border. But there Russia is seen as a ever-winter country with bandits on the road and girls doing anything to cross the border and escape from this awful cold country. This film made me some kind sad and angry both. Yes, my home country was so in 90s but not anymore!

Another film worth paying attention to is “Ecologia” by Julia Koszyreva about a girl coming back home in Russia after Work & Travel program in the USA. When Masha comes back home after a long journey to her native town in the Urals she finds out the old environment feels polluted and the only organic connection becomes a clean water delivery boy Vitaly… Suppose, now, in years of some kind of adornment to the USA and Europe, lots of students go abroad for summer working and then come back home, and feel sad, miserable. The worst thing is that they do not feel kind of relations to home anymore; however, they could not come back to that dream world of abroad, because visa is already “closed”.

If only I had an opportunity to have all these films at home, I would share them with all my friends, because for such a film lover it` s a real dream that came true, best films in one place in one evening.
