Russian Freak Winter [1] - 06.07.2025
Russian winter. Snow, sledges, fun. Keep it real! "And these idle "russes boyards” and "compts du Nord” have always seemed to be lunatic spendthrifts to the French peasants, staring at the russian travellers” – Valentin Pikul depicts the theme of Russia in the 18th century world in such a way.Oddly to say, but overseas citizens retain curious stereotypes about Russia in the modern world, causing not only a smile, but trills of laughter of keeping up with the times Russian. "Bears are wandering around in winter”, "They are always drinking vodka” – and other aphorisms of the foreigners may well become the top notch on the agenda of a fashionable cross-cultural training. And they may also become… the plot for the unforgettable open-air photo session, organized by the active youths of Ulyanovsk on the 7th of March, 2010.
While the town was getting heaped with the snowy mess, (happening on the first week of spring!), Ulyanovsk youth was having fun at full, really Russian blast. The mass photo session, called Russian Freak Winter, took place in the Sverdlov park, to the photographers’ and models’ entertainment.

Mass photo session for today’s Ulyanovsk is the unparalleled and first-of-its-kind event. But judging by the excitement of the participants, it’s not the last one. On the 7th of March Russian Freak Winter attracted peasants, boyars, russian beauties, a Gypsy, men and even a bear, and also photographers, ardous to get a unique experience, outside. A group of more than 20 people from Dimitrovgrad had gone like split to Ulyanovsk, if not sledging, but with the sledges in hands, a harmonica and stick cockerel lollies. It couldn’t do without those very foreign tourists who gave all the money to the cheaty Gypsy and just lost their tongue when seeing a bear.

And it suddenly turned out that the Russians are excellent photographers, vivid and persuasive actors, conscientious organizers and simply creative and joyful people. It appears that there are not only bears walking about in the streets in Russia. There are also talents.
