Slovenia Model UN (SIMUN) - 02.02.2025

The Slovenia International Model of United Nations (SiMUN) is an annual simulation of the committees of the United Nations (UN). This year’s conference is already the fourth Model UN held in Slovenia. It will take place in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana from from 24th to 28th August 2011.

The simulation will be dedicated to debates about the crisis situation in Somalia (in the Security Council), water management in connection to the right of water and environmental migrations (in HRC), as well as to the future of the Official Development Aid and the sovereign rights of Palestinian people over the natural resources in the occupied Palestinian territory (in ECOFIN).
With this we shall initiate the students to thoroughly consider contemporary pressing issues.

SiMUN is a great opportunity to experience decision-making and working processes of this unique global organization. The simulation will through role-playing enable the participants to obtain a multilateral view on world affairs, enhance their conflict resolution capabilities and develop their communication skills. Education is surely the most important aim of SiMUN, but one simply cannot forget that people learn the most through informal education, teambuilding and workshops. With various social events, a special atmosphere that is of crucial importance in this kind of simulation will be created among zealous participants.

The organizers are delighted that the participants from all over the world will join us. We're expecting around 80 delegates, who will each represent one country. One of the objectives of SiMUN is also to entangle Slovenia and its youngsters in a political discussion about issues of the international community. Moreover, we will do our best to present the Slovenian culture and tradition from interesting history to indulging culinary and last but not least, the unique hospitality of Slovene people.
